Television as it happens.

My name is Chris Lap.
I work internationally in television, combining years of experience in direction, camera training and consultancy.
My approach is rooted in observation, timing and a deep understanding of how stories unfold in real time.

About Me

When I was twelve, I first walked into a television studio.
Seeing how cameras, direction and production worked closely together sparked something that never faded.
That early fascination with collaboration and technology still shapes how I work today.

Over the years, my work has expanded into direction, remote camera training and consultancy.
I work closely with teams to integrate remote camera systems into live and real-time productions, helping them work with confidence, clarity and efficiency on set.

Reality Directing

For me, reality directing is about working in the moment. It means observing closely, anticipating what might happen next, and making clear decisions in real time without interfering with the reality itself.

Rather than controlling situations, my role is to support the story as it unfolds.
Staying alert, understanding people and dynamics, and ensuring the right camera is ready at the right time.

Cameras Without Presence

Remote cameras make it possible to capture moments without a camera operator in the room. They rely on an understanding of people how they move, react and behave when they feel unobserved. By anticipating natural movement and interaction, remote cameras support a true fly-on-the-wall approach, allowing reality to unfold without interruption.

Applied across video production

This way of working extends across a wide range of video productions from structured studio environments to dynamic, real-world settings.

It’s about understanding people and movement, staying alert, and switching quickly to capture meaningful moments wherever they happen.

By applying this approach consistently, productions stay flexible and responsive, allowing teams to adapt while staying focused on what matters on camera.
